I birded around D.P. headlands this a.m. and there were only a few migrants that I could find that were notable to me. First, an out-of-place CASSIN'S VIREO near the north entrance gate to the lower headlands trail around 8:30a. Later, at Sea Terrace Park, there was a male HERMIT WARBLER in the pines just past the PCH tunnel, and a fos male WESTERN TANAGER in the eucs near the apartments, and a few Black-headed Grosbeaks. Two WESTERN KINGBIRDS were in the dry field area near the fire station on Niguel Rd. I looked for Calliope hummers in the flowering "Pride of Maidera" (spelling)" areas, but was not able to come up with any.
BTW, we counted at least five pairs of California Gnatcatchers on the DP headlands this morning. This is a good time of year to see them there!
