To Chicago area progressive groups:
MoveOn.org is sponsoring a protest rally against keeping the tax cuts for the wealthy this Thursday at noon in the Loop. The idea is to focus on one single concern and make a lot of noise. Protesters are encouraged to bring signs and any implements that will be noisy (metal spoon or beaters with pots and pans, music instruments that can stand the cold, noisemakers, etc.). Details below. All area groups that are interested are asked to notify as many people as possible, to make this a news event. Nearly 90 groups around the country will be doing the same thing.
from MoveOn.org -
The income of the upper 1-2% of the most wealthy people is equal to the income of the bottom 80%. This upper 1-2% need an increase in their income taxes not the cuts that the Bush legacy has continued to support and which deprives the rest of us and the country of hundreds of billions of dollars which can be used to support education, jobs, medical care, pensions, public transportation, the improvement of air, water, food in every community. Senator Kirk is on the side of those who want to perpetuate these cuts. He needs to hear from those of us who want the cuts to expire. Let's let him know we are out there loud and clear.
Here are the details of the MoveOn event:
