I am having a ball with the new setup even if it is in sky glow
Last night was set up night for a couple of things. First, I did 2
hours of 10 minute subs on M74. I know Albert will be thowing a hissy
over this but it is such a beautiful galaxy. I added the 1 hour I did
earlier last week and know that to image this monster correctly, I
will need to move to a dark site or take about 6 more hours, it is so
So, last night was a test run. I found that I was getting some drift,
(about 2 arcseconds over the 10 minute period), even with the mount
delivering on average, less than .2 arcseconds peak-to-peak guiding.
I did two additional T-Point 25 star alignments and hopefully have
not thrown everything off.
I also did a 3 X 4 Mosaic of M42, (2 minute subs, 2 subs per Lum). I
am still not sure I have the spacings correct for 15-20% over-lap and
will try and get some assistance on the MaxIm forum today.
My goal, (with the CSC showing solid all blue for tonight) is to
start a 3 hour run of M74 as soon as the sun drops as it is already
just past the meridian at that point, (stop gringing Albert), and
then move to hopefuly a multi-hour Mosaic run on M42, (2 minute subs,
LRGB in a 3 X 4 mosaic for a total target of 6.4 hours.
Processing those will take me through the next month trying to
Anyway, that's the plan, heavens knows what is going to get in the
I finished the last 2 hours of Luminance for M82 Albert but need to
get some advice on the processing. I'll upload the calibrated LRGB
later this morning if you can take a look at it.
Cheers from the land of bright lights.
