I don't normally go to the NG conventions because they are usually
around or on my wife's birthday. That is why I can usually get out
to the Symposiums in Feb.
It has also been a bit of an unusual summer for us. Just after the
4th of July, I tried to burn our house down. Fortunately, the fire
was contained to one wall and we survived. The fire dept said
another 30 min and the fire would have gotten into the roof area and
the result could have been much more serious. Anyhow, minimal
damage and we didn't actually loose much "stuff". We had smoke and
water damage in part of the house, but nothing in the most important
room (don't tell my wife). The train area was totally unaffected.
The result of this is that we have been living in a 2 bedroom
apartment while they determine the cause of the fire and rebuild the
areas affected by the fire, water and smoke.
That means that not much has been done on the layout, but I have
taken a couple of kits that will go into the first area to be
completed on the new layout. I built the Ouray engine house from
Joe Fuss and I'm working on the Vance Coal pockets. Voth very nice
Hopefylly, we'll get back into the house in 5 weeks and I can get
some trains running again.
