The Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad and Transportation Museum will host its formal dedication and grand opening at their new facility in Nevada City California. The two acre complex features a large interpretive center, gift shop, meeting room and a restoration shop where some 20 pieces of rolling stock will undergo restoration. Featured displays include historic NCNGRR Engine No. 5, original freight cars from the NCNG, Florence & Cripple Creek, SP Narrow Gauge and West Side, plus the first steam powered automobile to arrive in Nevada County. Artifacts, volumes of photos and historical collections round out the displays, which will leave little to be desired for the dedicated researcher. A movie matinee highlighting Engine No. 5's Hollywood career in some 22 westerns is also scheduled.
The event is sheduled for Saturday and Sunday, July 27th and 28th, 10A.M to 4P.M at the museum which is located at #1 Kidder Lane and Bost Ave. in Nevada City. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
