In my recent trips to Coahuila/ Nuevo Leon, specifically a town in NL "Espinazo" home the Fidencista church my mother belongs to, I have come across a number of people who believe that Pancho Villa (Doroteo Arango) has granted them a miracle after they've prayed to him. The devout wear white t-shirts with his image and a list of people allegedly cured by his intercessions. Some of the relic dealers in the square now sell Pancho Villa curios along with those of Nino Fidencio's and catholic imageries. I snagged a few items including two small devotionals and a small image enshrined in a golden or kind of a reliquary stand. I'm not sure if this a new phenomena but I do see the parallels with Zapata who assumes godlike status among the Maya as Votan Zapata and Guan Yu and general worship in China. Has anyone had any other experiences with this? I can't find much online.
