Thursday, 14 June 2012 - The Mendocino County Bird Records Committee recently reviewed the 22-23 April 2012 Brewer's Sparrow sighting records and unanimously voted (6:0) to ACCEPT the record as MEN's first record of this species in the county. There is at least one other probable record from the county, but with limited notes and a single observer the old record was NOT ACCEPTED.
This species is long-overdue in the county, as vagrants are routinely found along the California coastline. Mendocino County now has 414 species on the county list.
