Saturday, October 22, 7:30 a.m. Field Trip to Clearlake State Park
All are invited to join Peregrine Audubon Society on a field trip to
Clearklake State Park on Saturday, October 22. The winding waterways of
this park host black-crowned night herons, American bitterns, wood
ducks, warblers, raptors, and turtles. The lake itself is home to
enormous white pelicans (9-foot wingspan) as well as herons, egrets,
osprey, grebes, and fall migrants. Chuck Vaughn will lead the field
trip, during which participants may see 70-80 bird species and will
hopefully enjoy spectacular fall weather. Bring a lunch, water,
binoculars, a favorite bird ID book, and weather-appropriate clothing.
Loaner binoculars may be available. Meet at Longs parking lot,
northwest corner, at 7:25 a.m. We will leave at 7:30 sharp. Come
prepared to carpool. Call 463-0839 for more information.
