Visit KLMDinosaur Home-School Day!
The Education Department at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum is excited to be able to present another fun-filled Home-School Day. This time, come learn about the exciting world of dinosaurs. Your family will participate in activities directed around our guest speaker, Dr. William Orr, with other home-school families. Dr. Orr is a retired Emeritus Professor of Geology from the University of Oregon. and is the Executive Director of the Thomas Condon State Museum of Fossils in Eugene, Oregon. We are thrilled to be able to combine his visitation with this special event. Students will learn about how fossils are created, what conditions were like during the time of the dinosaurs, the geographical areas where dinosaurs lived, and participate in activities that real archeologists do everyday! We invite you to participate in this unique learning experience. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. To RSVP, please contact the Education department at 503-434-4185. Space is limited. Student activities and lessons will be organized by grade levels: K-3, 4-6, and 7-12. A lunch location will be provided, so feel free to bring your own lunch or join us in the Cosmo Café.

Combining the fun of books with the exciting world of Aviation and Space!
Have you ever stood outside under a dark night sky and wondered what's out there? Have you ever stood alongside a runway and marveled at how an airplane flies? Well, with the exciting world of aviation and space the possibilities are endless, and with a book, you can travel farther than your wildest dreams.
The Aerospace Book Club is a program designed to excite students, grades K-3, about reading through aviation and space stories. Each story is combined with a hands-on science activity and craft that relate to the book. Total time for the program is about an hour. The best part is that the Museum comes to you! We can bring all our supplies to your classroom and conduct all the activities right there.

Since then, we have reached close to 2000 students! The Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum Education Department developed this program to provide public schools/private schools/home-schools, the opportunity to learn more about aviation and space discovery at their own school. If you do not have the opportunity to visit us here at the Museums, we would be pleased to come to you. Our Outreach Coordinator will provide a tailored (Washington/Oregon) standards aligned presentation at your school that lasts from 45 minutes to 1 hour. These presentations will be formatted to meet your time frame and curriculum needs. The content of our presentations, whether at the Museum or at your school site, consist of teaching your students aviation and space-related science and technology with "hands-on" lessons to public and private schools for grades kindergarten-12th, affirming college as an expectation, and fostering and inspiring careers in aviation, engineering, science, technology, and mathematics. We also offer after school presentations and teach to students of all development levels!
We hope that your school and community will take advantage of such great learning experiences. This is an amazing opportunity for your students to gain a truly educational perspective of how important aviation and space exploration is to our state and to our nation. Presentations are available throughout the entire school year. We look forward to the opportunity to meet with you and your students, and suggest you schedule early in order to ensure a convenient date and time for you. Please feel free to call our Education Coordinator for Outreach Education, Matthew Van Dixon at (503) 434-4180 Ext: 4470 (or E-mail to: matthew.vandixon@...).COME FLY WITH US!
