Dear 5D Listserv Members,
I have been given the opportunity to serve as the Commanding Officer for the Office of Human Resources Management for MPD. Effective, Sunday, September 30, 2007, I will be reassigned to Human Services. Ironically, I will be replaced by another Commander Greene. His name is Commander Lamar Greene. So you will still have a Commander Greene overseeing the Fifth District (smile). Commander Lamar Greene began his police career here, in the Fifth District as an officer. He later returned as a lieutenant, managing PSA 506. He comes with more than 13 years of accomplishments and experience in law enforcement and was a key contributor in the establishment of this department's community policing efforts. He supervised one of the first community policing beats that helped to lead to the development of PSAs. In addition, he has successful tenure in patrol and investigative services, executive protection, business services, and recruiting. While working homicides in the Violent Crimes Branch, he was instrumental in improving the closure rate. Please welcome back Commander Lamar Greene.
It has been a pleasure to serve as your commander. I look forward to my new assignment, as I will be tasked with increasing the number of sworn and civilian personnel to nearly 5,000 members in an effort to fulfill the new mission of this department: "to safeguard the District of Columbia and protect its residents and visitors by providing the highest quality of police service with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to innovation that integrates people, technology and progressive business systems."
Commander Jennifer Greene
