That was the one I sent out since it was the most recent. I also called the CUA Campus Police office which confirmed the time of fireworks at 1800 hrs. From what I learned, many Ward 5 residents, along w/other DC residents were on the campus throughout the day, and enjoyed the festivities. That's what's more important. For next year, hopefully the actual time of the fireworks will be confirmed. I slept through them.Gigi Ransom

It is truly unfourtunate that negativity was being read in my comment. It was sent out to Matt informing him on how the MPD5D listserve had notified the active participants about what was going on. This was giving him an additional way to get the information since it appeared that he was not a member of the MPD Listserv.
My message never disagreed nor attacked the validity of how Matt received any of his text messages.

There was a message from Andy Solberg, Commander, 5D, on the MPD-5D listserv dated April 28 alerting the community to the 2230 start time...but that's not my point...Between this listserv and the Brookland listserv, I get waaaay beyond the RDA of negativity...instead of attacking each other and community institutions, I wish we could spend more time being constructive toward creating a safe, friendly community.EmilieOn Sat, Apr 30, 2011 at 2:54 PM, WhoKnows <jus202b@...> wrote:
Sorry to inform you but I agree with Matt. I did not see last weeks post nor was I able to attend the meeting. But, like Matt I did receive the text alert which announced an 8;30 fireworks display.
Actually the tone of your message and second guessing of your neighbor seems a little ????, and part reason a LARGE majority of Brooklanders are disinterested in the list serv. It seems a bit more appropriate and neighborly to wonder how the CITY WIDE ALERT SYSTEM posted the inaccurate timing.

The announcement stated the start time would be 22:30 pm and that is when it started. Also, at our MPD 5D CAC meeting Thursday, our Commander informed the attendees again about the fireworks display.
