Thanks to Bob for tip on looking for swifts. Found at least one black swift this afternoon high above Lee Metcalf Refuge in Stevensville during cloudy, drizzly weather. Another birder I met told me they also saw this species this afternoon. Vaux's swifts were around the cottonwoods along the paved river trail on the refuge....but no white-throated....no hat trick.
Other species at Lee Metcalf today: peregrine falcon, marsh harrier, sandhill crane, 5 swallow species, Swainson's thrush (lots), MacGillivary's warbler, warbling vireo, 11 species ducks. Cheers.....Will McDowell, Missoula
