Let's REMEMBER (and Celebrate.
in) the fact THAT ...OCTOBER IS
'WHITE-HERITAGE / History MONTH"! =)
In CELEBRATING and HONORING EVERY and ALL of the
portions and aspects of OUR many heritages and LINEAGES
--- let's REMEMBER that OCTOBER has been designated AS ---
"WHITE (European-American) HERITAGE/History MONTH"!
In regards to the matter of doing something in celebration and honor
of `White / European History-Heritage Month' (held every October)
my personal feeling is that people SHOULD try to do some sort
of celebratory activity (ex. Renaissance Festivals; Oktoberfests;
etc.) in honor of the contribution of the "European-Lineage"
to the history and heritage of the United States of America .
My theory on this is that . IF more and more people
began to honor and celebrate in the far lesser-known
'American-Cultural History/Heritage Months'
(such as that of 'White / European History-Heritage
Month' -- held in October and of `Mixed-Race Heritage
Month' -- held in May) NONE of which, by the way,
are at all based on `racism' ... THEN just perhaps :
#1) the other, more much more well-known,
'American Culture Months' (like that of `Black
History Month' -- as well as that of `Latino History
Month', a "month" which is actually split across
two-months and also VERY LARGELY celebrated
in many areas of the U.S.-- ) would likely NOT
continue to remain so very "controversial"
(due largely to the fact that these particular two
'American-Culture Months' tend to get so much
'unbalanced' media attention and so much
more national-recognition than the others);
#2) all of the many groups that are in the U.S.
would feel more appreciated and celebrated;
#3) `eventually' the nation would become so
unified (in joining in on the `celebrations' of
EVERYONE'S Cultural-Heritage) that MOST
people found in the U.S. would choose
to simply celebrate in our very own, and
very unique, 'AMERICAN-Heritage Month'.
Yes -- it may be a bit far-fetched BUT even if
it does not work out that way by celebrating
in the lesser-known of 'American-Cultural
History / Heritage Months', the individuals
and families (and many of the young people, in
particular) who are, in part or in whole, from the
less-celebrated groups will NOT tend to feel so
alienated and ignored while other groups are
openly 'recognized', 'honored' and 'celebrated'
Also it has been proven that one reason so many
people from `lesser-celebrated' groups have joined
with 'extremist' groups is that they are often looking
for `validation' and `celebration' in their own existence.
Thus, if communities simply began to acknowledge ALL
the many 'CULTURAL' groups that make up the U.S.
in a way that is `celebratory' (and not "racist" and /
or "unbalanced") just maybe these various people would
NOT feel tempted to join in with the 'extremist' groups.
So as a result I openly encourage people to `remember';
`acknowledge' and `do something fun during' (celebrate)
the Month of October celebration of their (and / or their
family, friends and neighbors') proud 'European' Heritage.
Please feel free to share this with as many people
who are of full, main or part-European Lineage
(as well as those who are not) as you would like.
