If all you want is a web load testing tool, then you have a few more options at lower prices. However, I think it is less and less the case that people only need a tool that will only test load to the web server. Its more about optimizing your entire multi-tier architecture (web server, app server, com objects, databases, load balancers, etc). Whatever your choice, be sure that is is not short-sighted. Better to buy one tool that will really fit you needs than buy a second tool later because you did not choose correctly the first time.

I am new to use LoadRunner or any tool like this to test my application for performance.
I have one very basic doubt, I have seen that we can invoke the application from Vuser generator of LoadRunner and capture the scripts and we can test the application. What I am interested is to know the component level performance.
My application built on N-tier architecture (where 3-4 layers of components between my User interface and database.)All these components can be hosted in single machine or different machine. What I want to know is if I get X seconds of response time, I would like to know what the contribution of each of the component (or layer) out of this X seconds.
I have been told that we need to launch the components in different machine and find the system resources utilisation (which can be linked to components response time), but in real world customer can deploy all the components in single or two machines which is more likely. So I cannot adopt this method of analysis.
I want to know the component level analysis even when we hosted all the components in single machine.
By given this situation can some one guide me on how do we find component level response (or Performance)
Any clue to find this kind of information will be useful
Thanks in Advance
