We just want to take a moment to update you on conditions within the confines of the 70th Precinct. Some traffic lights are still out in our area and there are still some wires down , These conditions still make parts of the area dangerous to navigate. so please be careful. Power is still out in many areas of NYC. These conditions make it much more dangerous for pedestrians to walk around. We will have extra personnel at night to handle issues that arise from these outages. Also please be mindful of possible scams such as phony Con Ed and National Grid workers, Check for Identifications. They Normally don't enter your home unless you called them with a problem inside your house. if you suspect something is not right with them, call 911.
We also spoke about the gasoline shortages around the area, and understand many people are low on gas; however we still need to have a free flow of traffic. We are asking everyone not to block sidewalks, driveways or double and triple park. These violations cause many issues for traffic flow and restrict us from getting gas trucks to their destinations. If you can use your bicycles to go shopping or to get to your destinations it would be advisable, and also you would be saving gas !
The safety of all members of the community are our number one priority. We are attempting to get everything as close to normal as possible and will continue to update you as events unfold. Once again, Thank You for your understanding, and we have all of you who were affected, or have family and friends who were affected in our thoughts and prayers.
We too are assisting some of our personnel who have been severely effected by this storm. We really appreciate your kind words and support.
If you have an emergency call 911. All other issues, Please call 311.
Commanding Officer of the 70th Precinct
