of the group and can also contribute to our goals of research, remembrance,
and recognition of this terrible event. Please be sure to visit our film

I appreciate you forming a group for the survivors and decendants of the
Poles in Siberia. Most of my mother's family was sent over there, my
grandfather worked for the Polish government as a forestry management person
in Lomza. My grandmother died approximately 4 years ago, in my mother's
immediate family, her brother died in Siberia. In her extended family at
least 6 died in Archangel, Russia.
If you read, Exiled To Siberia, it basically was a pretty accurate account
of what my mother went through also.
I would like to join your group.
Thanks Stefan for the info; I hope in about another week to get busy and make some contacts. Also I d like to welcome Jim Poes to this group! I love the groupMessage 2 of 2 , Apr 5, 2002View SourceThanks Stefan for the info; I hope in about another week to get busy and make some contacts.
Also I'd like to welcome Jim Poes to this group! I love the group and you're all terrific. As I read your messages, you keep me in touch with my ancestral family roots and I feel a very strong bond with each one of you.
Your message caught my eye, Jim; you said your grandfather worked for the forestry division in Lomza. (That L and z have dicritic marks, right?) On his death certificate, that's the place given where my maternal grandfather lived before coming to live in the U.S. That was a long time ago --- in the 1890's. My mother died when I was a child so I know very little about her family but I have found a little information. Do you have family or know anyone who is still living in the Lomza area? If so will you please let me know. Their family name is so unusal, I doubt if there's another family anywhere in the world with the same name!
Hope to hear from you, and again WELCOME! I believe you'll find a lot of comfort and enjoyment from this group.
