Paul, are you sure that Norm Davies does not speak
Polish fluently ? I have not heard him speak, but
someone who did told me that he is quite fluent.
PS. Szczesliwego Nowego Roku to all.
I suppose that you don't know me yet so firstly I introduce myself very shortly. My name is Alicja, I live in Warsaw, but my parents were born in the pre-war Eastern Poland - my father came from Grodno and my mother comes from Volhyn (Ludvipol in Kostopol county). I work as a journalist in one of biggest Polish weeklies - "Wprost".
And now I would like to tell you that I have heard Norman Davies speaking Polish. He speaks quite well, he studied a little in the Jagiellonski University in Cracow, his wife is of course Polish - and his book "God's Playground" is - in my opinion - the best of books of Polish history - better than most of these of Polish authors.
