Please welcome Elzbieta Kniaz to the group. Thank you for your
introduction, Elzbieta. Your story of growing interest in the history of
our families is familiar to many of us. I encourage you to scan through the
various messages on our website posted since last September, as well as to
explore the links on our webpage "www.AForgottenOdyssey.com"
If you can provide some details on your parents names, birthdates etc.,
perhaps our Soviet Archives guru (Alexander Gur'yanov) can check the
databases for your family records. Are you now in London or further north?
Again, welcome - we look forward to learning together and pursuing our goals
of Research, Remembrance and Recognition of this tragic episode in the
history of our families and of the Polish nation.

Thank you your e-mail. This is a brief summary of my
connections to Kresy and Siberia.
My father was from Lwow, my mother from Matjasy a
small place near Brzesc. They were both arrested and
sent to Siberian labour camps. They were eventually
released and joined Gen. Anders army and made their
way through Persia, Palestine, Monte Cassino to
England. My father spent 6 weeks in a condemned cell
As a child I was not very interested in these matters,
but as one matures and progresses through life the
interest and the longing for knowledge of one's roots
increases. Unfortunately both my parents are no
longer here. I am currently doing some research into
the origins of my surname and trying to find out
about my father's family in Lwow.
Let me know if you want to know any more.
Very many good wishes
