After some consideration, I have decided to share the two attached documents. The first gives a little description and explanation of some the jingles chanted by locals (Indians) selling theirs wares in the streets of the Polish refugee camp in Valivade India. The second is the story and text of a little known (and I think never published) song about the battle of Monte Cassino composed by a couple of soldiers of the 2 Polish Corps and sung by my uncle, a veteran of the battle.
I have wave files with a recordings of my mother singing the jingles in the first document and a recording of my uncle and me singing the song in the second document at the ceremonies celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Monte Cassino (held in the in our Dom Polski in Ottawa, Ontario). I had been hoping to share them as well, but they are so big that I have not figured out a way to send them. Perhaps I find some way in the future. For now, I want share at least the texts and their stories.
