I would like to bring to your attention an article (April 26th in Nasz Dziennik) which should be of interest to all of us. It deals with a response of President Komorowski to an appeal by the Ukrainian Committee for the Agreement between Nations. I am including a Google Translation of the article, with my corrections. As you know the Communists and after 1989 the post-Communist have covered up UPA crimes and one cannot trust Komorowski to fight for the truth about these crimes since throughout his career he has stonewalled any attempts to commemorate the victims.
What raised the red flag is this quote from Komorowski's adviser Henry Wujec: "Adviser said that "UPA murdered Poles, but in retaliation Polish armed units murdered Ukrainians." That is just false and clearly does not even comes close to describing the genocide committed in Kresy by Ukrainian SS, the Ukrainian Auxiliary Police and the UPA.
The Communists and post-Communist want to portray the slaughter of quarter million Poles as collateral damage in fighting between the Poles and Ukrainians. That is an absurdity. It is the same calling the killing by Jews by the Nazis collateral damage and that both should apologize to each other and forgive and forget. "The Forgive and Forget" crowd in Poland today are the Communists and post-Communists who want us to forget Soviet Crimes and who want to downsize Polish suffering.
If you have time, I urge you to write to Polish Ambassadors in your country and state clearly that the UPA crimes must be condemned and not EQUATED with any fighting between UPA, the Ukrainian SS and Polish AK, which was minimal. The last time there was such an attempt, Pres. Kwasniewski apologized for "Wisla Action" but there was no reciprocal apology and condemnation from the Ukrainian side. In the Wisla Action Ukrainians were not slaughtered. Komorowski and the other post-Communists cannot be trusted with the truth.
With best regards,
