You can also check and see if there are any libraries where you are that might give you free access to Ancestry. Are there any LDS (Mormon Church) librariesMessage 1 of 11 , Apr 6View SourceYou can also check and see if there are any libraries where you are that might give you free access to Ancestry. Are there any LDS (Mormon Church) libraries where you are? They allow anyone interested in genealogy to use their genealogy facilities at their libraries. They appear to have a deal going with Ancestry, so that would give you access to ancestry.Also.Sometimes, Family Tree Maker, which is genealogy software, which Ancestry I understand has purchased, will sometimes give you a free subscription when you purchase the software. Which subscription depends pretty much on where you buy the software. In the US, you'll get a US subscription. The same offer in the UK, will give you a UK subscription. As to UK research, there is quite a bit that is free. There is a huge volunteer transcription effort to make the UK Birth, Death and Marriage record index, and even parish records, free. It's an ongoing effort, so what's available at this time is not complete, but definitely worth looking at.http://www.freebmd.org.uk/ is the Free index to UK's birth, marriage and death records.I have even found myself listed here.It is not complete at this time. But definitely worth looking at.Here are the parish recordsThis transcription project is in it's infancy. But again. Worth checking. And FindMyPast.UK also gives a free trial period.Helena

Hi Farrah, I am a member of Ancestry.co.uk which is part of Ancestry.com. There are different prices for whatever you wish to do. When you checked your grandparents as arriving in England because you are in India, it comes under "world" research and is much more expensive. I have a yearly subscription which is for U.K. records only, but I refuse to pay more for overseas records. They will give you 14 days free trial, then they want your card to charge you for membership. You can do it by either annually, monthly etc. May I suggest that first you check out other websites such as the National Archives in London, as Ancestry records are sponsored by The National Archives. Then there are other sites for example FindMyPast.com. FamilySearch.com etc. Hope this helps.
