I have just come back from Friday's event of "Who Do You Think You Are? Live" in Olympia and felt compelled to write to you all to say what a wonderful experience it was. If you are planning to go, then you won't be disappointed and, for those of you who are still undecided, I can highly recommend it. Please don't miss the opportunity.
I was delighted to meet Halik Kochanowski and Zosia and Jurek Biegus and to buy signed copies of their books: 'The Eagle Unbowed' and 'Polish Resettlement Camps in England and Wales 1946-1969', respectively.
The day flew by. As well as having the opportunity to meet up with UK members, those already known and familiar and those known only through the forum, the day offered opportunities to buy books and other Kresy-Siberia memorabilia, catch up with the latest developments but, more importantly, to meet with many, many individuals curious about some inexplicable part of their background or past, about a father now long-deceased, who had refused to speak of the war years, about another father who relates snapshots of experiences which are disjointed and incoherent.
Not knowing what to expect, I was surprised to find myself kept busy chatting to strangers and doing my best to fill in the missing pieces to their life's jigsaw or, at the very least, to point them in the right direction which very often quite simply meant the Kresy-Siberia website, Hoover, Karta, as well as the Sikorski Museaum, the MOD etc. etc. They all appeared to be very grateful for any information or advice they were given.
Of course, it goes without saying that this event would not have taken place without the determination, hard work and commitment of Eva and Mirka and their team of very active UK members. My sincere thanks to them all.

Dear UK Members,
Next week on Friday 22-Sunday 24 February K-S (UK) will be exhibiting at the Who Do You Think You Are Live show in Olympia, London (see our listing on www.whodoyouthinkyouarelive.com).
I am attaching below a copy of our English version press release which is being sent to a number of Polish and English newspapers and magazines in the UK and also in Poland and I would be extremely grateful if you could please pass the message around to your contacts and circulate it within your local Polish/English community, parish church, school, SPK or other relevant group or organisation that may be interested and encourage people to come and see us at stand No. 74/75 in the new
'Migration Zone'. It would be particularly good to see more of our London members at this event and I hope that you will make a big effort to come and support us.
On Friday 22 February at 11.30 am we will be presenting a workshop talk on Polish Resettlement Camps in the UK and on the day British historian Halik Kochanski will be signing copies of her new book The Eagle Unbowed. We will also have representatives attending throughout the 3-days from some of the major UK Polish organisations such as the London Embassy/Consulate, SPK HQ, as well as our WW2 veterans/survivors.
The press and media will be present throughout the event so make sure you don't miss out on this memorable event.
Opening times are:
Friday 22 February - 10.00am-6.30pm
Saturday 23 February - 9.30am-5.30pm
Sunday 24 February - 9.30am-4.30pm
Please contact me directly if you are able to help with the manning of our stand or if you can help us in any other way.
Looking forward to seeing you all there and to a great event!
