Dear Mark T. Understood and acknowledged.
I am afraid so; an unsortable pile of victims.
The message I get is that even if there were no Nazis, and no world war, the soviets still would have gotten around to kill my family, albeit less conveniently/
Quote - Soviet citizens were systematically murdered in the southwestern Byelorussian republic before the 1941 Nazi invasion.
They write Soviet citizens, which could be Polish, Belarusian, Russian etc. But only because the Soviets deemed them to be Soviet, they lost their nationality. Just like my mamusa was born Polish but ordered and recatagorised officially as belonging to ZSSR/USSR for purpose of official records. She never went back, immigrated to Australia and was allowed to remain Polish, which she had to relearn as all things Polish were denied her under Soviet Control, only her mamusa, my grandmother would teach the children in secret with severe punishment if caught by Soviet Soldiers.
Could this be our missing Kresy people?
