Please welcome new member Nicola to the group. Her father Jan Pazdzierski, now 86, came from near Bialystok. Jan was deported in 1940 and taken to Archangel. Jan's mother Victoria Poltorak may possibly have gone to Kazakhstan.
Nicola says her father didn't speak much about it when she was growing up, but as he has got older he says more, although he only speaks of his experiences now and then.
After release Jan managed to join the Polish Free Army and was eventually demobbed in England. He moved to Sheffield where he still lives. His mother also survived and went to live in Pontypool in South Wales. She died about 30 years ago.
Nicola is thinking about telling Jan's story, at least for the family and came across the Kresy-Siberia Group while researching.
We have a very knowledgeable group here Nicola and they are very generous in sharing that knowledge. I look forward to hearing you get the answers to all those unanswered questions.
