I pointed out how your post showed bias so was therefore tainted, and that is all. If I detect bias, I discount the whole as you know. I was not the only member who disagreed with your post, although I am the only member who was singled out. Witek very condescendingly brought up "political correctness," although it was not mentioned. There was no name calling by me.
I apologize to the group that the formatting of my post was not preserved in email. I have to remember not to use "Rich Text Editor" when posting from Yahoo, but those who want to read the post with the formatting may do so there.

> I am not sure what it is that Eve so vociferously disagrees with. But, let me ask whether it is off topic to pry into the WHY and WHAT happened? Why after all these years the full truth about deportations, about Katyn, about Soviet crimes against Poland cannot be told? Unless the Polish government takes the lead in airing that history, it will die as my generation passes. Why is the present government of Poland promoting the downsizing of Soviet crimes and will not teach the true history to our children? It continues to follow the Russian lead in rewriting Polish history. I doubt if most of the secondary school children in Poland have any idea of what happened to the Polish population after Sept 17th, 1939 Soviet invasion and the crimes committed by the Soviets. Why is this current government putting insurmountable obstacles for children of the deported who want to return to Poland? Is it because they believe that they don't exist? It seems to me that the downing of the plane, over Serverny airport is very much related to the fate of the Polish people of the Kresy, who are no more, and are becoming, in Orwell's words, non-persons. It was under Lech Kaczynski that the Polish government began to promote the airing and teaching of true history of the Kresy.
> What happened at Severny airport and why? The answer lies in Poland and Polish politics and not in Moscow, and one can't discuss the tragedy without looking at how Poland has been governed since 1989 and is again governed today. It is probably directly related to the liquidation of WSI(Military Counter Intelligence ) and subsequent criminal investigation of its members under Kaczynski. At this point I will stop and take the advice given by some of you and e-mail my full commentary directly to interested individuals.
> I have to thank Mark for calling our attention to the Doomed Soldiers website. It has a wealth of history in it especially about the Soviet crimes and their war against the Polish Underground Army (AK). And, it has excellent articles in English on Smolensk tragedy.
