Now that I'm on a roll, I've remembered an interesting experience I had with a Polish parish priest when I was visiting relatives in Poland. I'd gone to the local priest looking for church records relating to my family who had been born and married there. We found my fathers' baptismal record, and mine, but the priest said that he was too busy to search for anything else just then, but would search again when he had the time as there were also many records that had been returned from the settlement villages, so that in time, he would search and send anything relevent to me. I left him with a donation and high hopes that sometime I would receive something. I never did, but I
do wonder if what he told me was valid, and that records were sent back to original parishes - or not ? Does anyone know, and if it is true, is there any way of obtaining anything without travelling to Poland.
