Thanks for the reply & photos. Rowne was the administrative centre for Zdolbunow, I believe. My father's MOD records say that "Edward Nikiel declared that in 1937 he completed 7-Klasowa Szkola Powszechna - Zdolbunow". I have found reference on GOOGLE to Szkola Powszechna im Tadeusza Kosciuszki w Zdolbunowie. So his school did and possibly still does exist. At the time of his arrest in 1939/40, he declared that he was in "1939 2-Kl. gimnazjum-(illegible word) slus.mech". He gave his place of residence (street & number) in Skarzysko-Kamienna. So I can only think that he was doing his training as an apprentice fitter(?) there. It is unlikely that our father's paths crossed at school, as my father was born in 1921, but it is quite possible they did later as both appear to have served on ORP Baltyk & ORP Conrad around 1945. I have attached a couple of my father's navy photos for your interest. Who knows, maybe other K-S members will recognise persons appearing in the photos with him. That would be a bonus as we have no clue who he is with. My father is front right in photos 1 & 2.
Kind Regards Karen
