Those who watched the Magda Szubanski program "Who do you think you aree"
last Sunday may have noticed a big boo boo made by the film makers.
It was readily noticed by a group of friends of mine - the problem was that
the producers used photos from the Warsae ghetto uprising and presented them
as being of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising
When one of my friends rang SBS to complain - the response was that SBS has
no responsibility for the documentary but the producers in Perth - and
anyway why was the gentleman so upset?
Its not if there is a shortage of photos from the 1944 Uprising - Magda and
the producers did go to the Uprising Museum in Warsaw.
This is at best sloppy film making - at worst incompetent. They probably
googled Warsaw Uprising and came up with the photos. It wasn't only one
photo that was used of the Ghetto Uprising but several.
Rarely do we get the Polish historical narrative presented in Australian TV
and we should expect accuracy from researchers.
I would suggest we make our displeasure known to SBS.
