What is more curious is Irena's surname " Sendler " which is very similar to
Schindler ? :-)
A very courageous women given the fact that, for some reason I don't
understand, only in Poland, did the Germans execute anyone harboring Jews.
Today, while researching my uncle's army death in 1944 in Pludy near
Warszawa, I came upon this web site. This Jewish girl recounts how she
survived the war while she was sheltered by many Polish RC people during her
long struggle. She was saved by Polish Orphanage in Pludy along with other
Jewish girls. Sorry it is in Polish, but one can easily translate the
entire site using Google's translation service. Extremely interesting
