Onderwerp: [Kresy-Siberia] Norman Davies
In an Dutch documentary Norman Davies was on Belgian Television, giving
more explanation on the Yalta conference, Stalin's strong position at that
time and showing Churchill's "dirty note" on the future partition of Europe,
and the consequences for Europe. He emphasized the tragedies of the Red
Army, waiting in Praha, until the Germans had killed about 50 000 men, and
the thousands of Poles in the Red Army doing nothing, seeing their
countrymen being slaughtered. Asked if their was nobody asking unplaisant
questions after the war, an old Polish soldier of the Red Army that was in
Praha, and still believing that communists "freed" Poland, answered
cynically : nobody asked anything, because those that could ask some
questions were all dead!
Also, Norman Davies told the story of Prague (Praha), the Tchech Capital,
and the uprising there in May 1945. There, General Patton and the US Army,
who were at 50 miles from the city, were forbidden to intervene. He stated
that Stalin, who started together with Hitler this degrading war, at the end
was the great winner, too.
I think for most of the Belgian people this was all new and very amazing, as
Belgian media are king of disinformation.
This was a good piece of information, very, very rare here.
