I have been mostly absent from the Group for a few months now mainly
because of time constraints and also because I believed that I would
not be able to find any more information about my mother's family.
About three weeks ago I received an email from a gentleman called
Jacek who lives in Warsaw who had obtained my current email address
from Stefan. It turned out that he was related through marriage to
a member of my mother's family and he was very interested in
genealogy. I always knew my grandparent's names and found the names
of my great grandfathers through the Karta Index. Also Rob Loasby
(another Kresy member) had provided me with further names of my
grandfather's siblings through his research into his wife's family.
Jacek had sent me pages of information (in Polish) of people who
lived in and around the village where my mother was born. As I
quickly scanned through the entries I realised that I was looking at
information about not only my grandparents but also my great
grandparents as well! Jacek's next email contained a family tree
which showed the connection between our families. We have been in
frequent contact over the last few weeks and I look forward to his
emails as I know that there will be some more fascinating news.
So if anyone feels hopeless in their own search for family roots I
can now say don't give up. Something wonderful might happen as it
did for me.
All the best
