Carol, Barb and others,
of course one has these little momentoes; I too have but a few; especially some photos and certifficates; that goes without saying; they remind us of times past. I delight myself in remembering, reading of all our travels even in Siberia and give talks to people/groups to promote the history of those awful times, which as we know the world at large does not know. Memories of experiences as they were give us strength. I always think.
I was commenting on valuing those items for some sort of compensation, which to me is pointless.
Just over a year ago I visited our osada; do you know I could not recognise the spot where it actually stood. It was just a giant field of barley or corn. The cellar where we put things below the kitchen floor was not evident anywhere; not even a depression in the field. There we hid all sorts of things of value to us at that time and in the future, as we thought. All the house deads and documents, valuables, guns, clothing and food as well.
I came away feeling quite upset, but what can one do?
Barb, it is always good to pray and especially to St.Anthony of Padua, whose name was given to me. I mean just Antoni, not the rest.
Thank you for that snippet.
