I would like to thank the "Glos Polski" newspaper in Argentina for
printing my project announcement in a recent issue.
Thanks to them I received an 8 page letter, in Polish, from a Mrs.
Barbara Zaleska in Buenos Aires. I have begun to read and translate
it. Both she (84) and her husband (94) are alive and well.
So far I can tell you that they were from the village of Troscianiec
some 30km NE of Luck in Wolyn. Married in 1937, their young family
(one infant and a one month old baby) and a number of relatives were
deported on the 10th of February, 1940 to a posiolek in the
Archangel area. After the amnesty, they followed the typical route
south as far as Guzar in Uzbekistan. They then arrived in Pahlevi
from Krasnovodsk on the 23rd of August, 1942. The women and children
wound up in India, the men in the Polish Army. Many of their group
died. I shall attempt to get all of their names so that we may add
them to the memorial "wall".
