For Halina . . .and anyone else who wants to find a Canadian birth
In Canada, birth certificates are issued by the provinces. However,
until recent times, Quebec birth records, as in pre-war Poland, were kept by
the local parish of the Roman Catholic church.
Thank goodness for the world wide web and search engines like Google. I
went to the Province of Ontario site and soon found out how to apply for a
death certificate plus a way to download the form. Go to
and follow the links.
However, you may be caught in a "Catch 22". They ask for the names of his
parents -- one of the very things you want to know! I notice however that
they also have a link to click to FAMILY TREE so you might get some help
I'm sure our K-S members in the Toronto area may have some ideas for
you on likely cemeteries. We're glad to be able to do something to repay
you for the great job you are doing with our links.
