See details on how to do that at
Let us know if you find anything out, or if you need any help with it!
From: "Steve" <s.sobot@...
My name is Stephen Sobot (originally Stefan Sobot) and I was born in 1957 in
England. I am currently living in the Netherlands, having moved here from
the UK several years ago. My grandparents and their families settled in the
UK after the Second World War in the late 40's I believe, with the surnames
of Sobotkiewicz (on my father's side, shortened to Sobot in the early 50's)
and Grochowski on my mother's side. My father's family was sent to Siberia
from the town of Luck, my mother's from the town of Minsk (I believe). Leon
Sobotkiewicz (my grandfather) fought at Monte Cassino.
I would be very interested to hear from anybody who can help piece together
more details of my family history.
Thank you for providing this fascinating and poignant site and discussion
