Today's (29 July 2004) print edition Wall Street Journal contains an
article titled "Warsaw's Uprising" by author Neal Asherson on page A12.
It's mostly a historical summary, concluded with a couple "lessons"
regarding contemporary Poland. It ends with the statement:
"So modern Poland's leaders, remembering the Warsaw Uprising, have
resolved never again to be victims pleading for rescue. From now on ,
they intend to be part of the lifeboat's crew."
No comment from me--I'm not sufficiently informed--just passing along
