I am a physician and am concerned about college students (especially mine, of course!) who are at even higher than usual risk this flu season. Here is the word from the Office of Student Development on flu shots for our kids. PLEASE encourage your student(s) to get flu shots on Oct 1!

Students will receive flu shots on campus on Oct 1 from 10 am to 2 pm and 5 to 7 pm. There will be a $15 charge. Students wishing to get flu shots prior to this can go now to the Knox County Health Dept. on Fremont St. here in Galesburg from 9 am to 5 pm (M-F), and the charge will be $30. Once the H1N1 shot is available, these will be provided on campus as well. Right now we are hearing that these shots may be available to us by mid to late Oct.
We are also trying to educate our students on prevention as much as possible with information posted around campus as well as online. There are hand sanitizers at most campus buildings for student use. Students are encouraged to contact our Health Services with any questions they may have re: seasonal or H1N1 flu.
Please do not hesitate to contact me further with any questions or concerns. Dan
