As square and round dancers and leaders, we all know the #1 issue
confronting the activity we love.
The lack of new dancers.
We really don’t have a problem that would not be solved
with “numbers”. We have all tried many ways to interest new people
over the years, but will little or no success. Most of our attempts have
been demos and fairs, signs and flyers.
The problem today is “how to reach new people”? One
answer may be the “new technologies”. After all, when people want
to find out something, where do they turn today? The
Internet? Facebook? Twitter? Or all the
above. Problem is, we’re not sure how to use these “tools” to
maximize our outreach.
Help is on the way!!!!
The convention board has secured the services of an expert. Lori Byers, the Associate Dean of the college
of Communication, Information and Media at Ball State
University is coming to the convention.
On Saturday October 19, Lori will share with us the use of Facebook,
websites, and other forms of media to reach a new demographic for our
It is important that we have as many people as possible attend her
presentation to help us gain ideas which will help reach new dancers.
We would love to see and least one or two
members from every club attend this program.
