Our Yizkor Book translation project is moving forward briskly in the new year; I've just posted two more articles on the website. One deals with the formation of the youth movements "Hechalutz Hatzair" (Young Pioneers) and the sport association Hapoel in Keidan. The second is a biographical piece about a Keidaner who was among the most important early settlers in the Land of Israel -- Avraham Shlomo Zalman Tzoref (Goldsmith). I'm sure you'll find both pieces of great interest. Click here to access them via the Contents page.
I'm also pleased to report that the Keidan Memorial Fund has raised nearly $800 thus far to keep this project alive. We will, of course, need to continue our fundraising efforts for some time if we are to complete the translation. So again -- if you haven't yet done so, please consider making a donation. It's quick and easy via the PayPal link -- click here to begin the process. Otherwise, just mail a check to the fund, c/o A. Cassel, 8310 Tulpehocken Ave., Elkins Park PA 19027.

This week we posted three more translations of articles in the Keidan Yizkor book. One is a description of Keidan's Jewish volunteer fire brigade; the other two are additional accounts of the community's destruction by the Nazis and Lithuanians in 1941, written by Yehuda Ronder. For those who may be unfamiliar with him, Yehuda Ronder is among the last living Jewish Keidaners in Lithuania, and someone who has served as a great resource as well as a good friend to many of the community's descendents around the world.
Links to the new articles are here, here and here: Enjoy -- and don't forget: This project is going forward because of your help. Make your contribution at this link or mail a check to the Keidan Memorial Fund, c/o A. Cassel, 8310 Tulpehocken Ave., Elkins Park PA 19027.
Again, many thanks.
