I have sth about Mr Knightly's character to tell you. I know that at the moment you are reading Emma so my point seems to be related.
In a commentry on Emma, I once read that Knightly represents Austen herself. That is everytime she wants to insert her ideas about sth, she has Knightly comment on it. Knightly is the most mature person in the story in terms of thought. If he wasnt there, Emma's character wouldnt change to a better one at the end. Emma has a dynamic character and this dynamicity is for the most parts due to Knightly's corrections and advice.
Hope this comment wasnot mentioned before. I dont have time to go through all your previous messeges so I am afraid sb else said it before!!
