One is that the Islanders should not give up on someone that they
have invested a lot in already because this has been the pattern and
we see it all over the NHL watching ex-Islanders.
The other is some questions about whether he is simply good enough to
be a star player and should they get more experience for him.
To me the answer is obivious. You do not trade Tim Connolly under any
circumstance at this point of his career. After watching him for two
years you absolutely have to see his developement thru because that
is one of the reasons the team has been losing while waiting for what
he can do. The teams offering their top players must make a deal,
they are the ones that need to compromise and the Islanders have
other players to include in trades.
As far as Connolly's game he does have plenty of talent and no one
really knows if he will be great, good or simply a marginal player,
at his age it's not possible to tell yet. We see good signs and bad
It really is up to him and the Islanders to wait and find out. I can
only speak for myself, but this is one you have to show some patience
