ATLANTA (AP) -- Ray Ferraro agreed to a one-year contract extension
with the Atlanta Thrashers on Sunday.
Ferraro, the Thrashers' leading scorer with 28 goals and 44 assists,
will earn $2 million plus incentives in the 2001-02 season -- his
18th NHL campaign.
The 36-year-old forward is enjoying his best season since 1991-92
when he had 40 goals and 40 assists with the New York Islanders.
The Thrashers signed Ferraro as a free agent on Aug. 2, 1999. He
earned a base salary of $1 million last season, and triggered a club
option for this season by playing 81 games.
Ferraro, who has also played for Los Angeles, Hartford, and the New
York Rangers, had 19 goals and 25 assists in his first season with
