We had Newsday's Neil Best on with us last week on my
totally commercial-free, no one makes a dime from it,
Long Island Sports Talk radio show. After covering
the Giants for the past 10 years, he is now penning
"Sports Watch" covering sports media and business.
As he had recently written an article on the success
of the Isles' recent advertising, I talked some Isles
He said that the Islanders are a "strange animal" (as
opposed to other local franchises) as they need a new
building to survive. There is "a lot of potential"
but they need a better record and a better building.
He posited that if the Islanders had the success that
the Devils had the past 10 years, the seats would be
filled every night, unlike the Devils.
He characterized the team as "a sleeping giant in need
of a new building."
