I'll take the win, good effort. Did not seem like much they can build
on based on how the goals were scored and how few good chances they
got, but these days that's a given every night with this team, broken
plays for goals, long outside shots from bad angles. PP, that works
out of the perimeter for low pct chances.
In no way can a win over a team that won ten straight be downplayed
because they needed it badly any way possible.
Cannot remember the last time Yashin scored a late third peirod goal
to win a game.
Osgood had to be excellent to win that game in the third, the goal he
gave up was not a good one, but he more than made up for it by the
With last year's pk formula it is clear the Isles are now a much
better pk unit and much better than the rating.
And the saga goes with the forwards. When Asham is on a line where he
looks right he actually is a noticable player who works hard and you
can see results. Unlike Kvasha, who looks invisible everywhere.
Sad, but Jason Blake is the Isles hardest working forward every game,
results or not he is always getting chances.
Really solid night by the defense, they needed good games from
everyone and was good to see Jonsson not back down to Bertuzzi. Bert
missed that it was Aucoin/Osgood that he tripped over, but he was in
on some plays and does take the goalie out of position when he gets
room in front.
Good team win. Now comes the Leafs and the circus but the game in
Pittsburgh is just as critical.
No time for antics, just four points.
