In 9 games he has 10 pts. He has a +5 rating. On ESPN fantasy
rankings he is ranked #18(including goalies) this year as far as this
years production, ahead of Jagr, Guerin and Fedorov.

Were the Isles quick to pull the plug on Tarnstrom ?
Maybe yes, maybe no. They had enough defenders and last spring
Laviolette did not trust him on the ice in the big games and gave the
coach no reason to trust him. Sure he was injured and never came back
right after the Olympic break, but before that he fit in well here.
I guess they wanted out of the contract, but to be fair this
player was on waivers at least once and no team touched him, even
after he had a good preseason. Whatever the Islanders did not see,
other teams passed on as well.
Only question here is did the Islanders attempt to move him for
something or just let him go without trying to include him in a deal
for something that would have helped.
As to Tukio, why would any gm offer a first rd pick to Mike
Milbury when he can offer a 28 year old prospect who has been in
three or four organizations, or a ninth round pick ?
