The title of the book will be, "Fish Sticks: The Fall and Rise of the New
I don't know if I could buy a book called "Fish Sticks". What are they trying to sell the book to Ranger fans also? I like Hahn and Botte and occasionally Fischler but I personally won't buy the book because of the cover. So they already lost one customer and I guarantee a bunch more. What a stupid idea!
And yes, my friends, 2-12 IS mentioned!
That was the Protest game against the Penguins, right? I wonder if they'll have the Daily News picture of me in the book.

Subject: [Islanders-SoundTigers] New Islander book coming out soon!
A note from a friend of mine about the upcoming
Isles book from Fischler, Hahn and Botte:
Thanks to Stan Fischler, Peter Botte and Alan Hahn have just reached a
with a new publisher, Sports Publishing, Inc.
a company based in Illinois who has a long and successful reputation with
sports books -- especially hockey. They promised to get right to work on
Botte and Hahn's manuscript and have it ready to put on shelves for THIS
It might not be listed anywhere, such as Amazon.com, until it reaches
(probably around Thanksgiving).
The way it works is that the better it sells initially, the
more that they'll print. So, by emailing places such as Amazon.com and
DEMANDING the book, the more available the book will become.
Hey Islanders fans, Hahn and Botte are the BEST that we have. They are
only GREAT writers, but they're both GREAT fans of the team, as well. What
do you say we help them out here?
This particular publisher deserves credit, as well, as they are going out
their way to get this book out. Stan Fischler deserves credit, too, for
stepping in and offering HIS publisher (he has a book out on the Red Wings
with them) to Botte and Hahn after hearing of their trouble with their
previous publishing group.
I know for a fact that Botte and Hahn have put a LOT of heart-and-soul,
hours into this project. They battled the previous publisher to release
book and then worked HARD to find someone willing to take them on at the
minute. It's all worked out so far, and now it's up to us fans to respond
The book will be available at stores from Borders to Target and
K-Mart...anywhere that books are sold. So DEMAND it and they'll order it.
Can you think of a better stocking stuffer for an Islanders' fan this
From what my sources have told me, the book follows the franchise from the
early 90s, flashing back to the late 80s when it started to crumble and
right until last season. Everything is in there with tons of behind the
scenes, revealing stories -- from the Gang of Four to the Fisherman logo,
Spano to Milbury, from Milstein to Goring, from Trottier's No. 19 to the
salary dumping days; to Charles Wang and rejuvenation, right up to last
year's playoff series with Toronto, Darcy Tucker, and the feeling of
unfinished business when it ended in seven games.
My inside information tells me that Peter and Alan set the record straight
a LOT of issues. There's even a special chapter on the history of Nassau
Coliseum, things people never knew about the building, how it came to be
why it was left to crumble, as well as a celebration of the most
and incredibly resilient fans in all of sports and how they make the
an unforgettable place.
It sounds like a MUST read for ALL Islanders fans and perhaps hockey fans
general. It certainly explains a lot . . . as well as offers a scrapbook
memories, of course many bad, but these days they're more laughable than
were then. Of course it has a happy ending (this season's start
The authors will soon be blanketing the tv and radio airwaves with
Hey guys, let's help our friends Alan and Peter out here. I've been
fortunate enough to meet BOTH of these guys; I like the hell out of them,
I have a great deal of admiration AND respect for the work that they do.
behooves us to support these guys. How many others are writing books
our favorite team?
