Milbury Fined 30G

Islanders GM Mike Milbury was among two general managers and two
coaches fined by the NHL yesterday for comments or actions during the
first round of the playoffs.
Milbury and Vancouver GM Brian Burke each were slapped with $30,000
fines for criticizing referees and/or the league to the media, while
Montreal coach Michel Therrien was fined the same amount for publicly
threatening members of the Bruins.
Detroit coach Scotty Bowman also was fined $10,000 for shoving a
Detroit Free Press reporter during the Red Wings' series against
All of the money will go to the NHL Foundation, which funds
charitable causes and youth hockey initiatives.
Coincidence or Conspiracy: The Isles and their staff awakened
yesterday to discover only they had ice-cold water streaming from
their showers in their rooms at the posh Westin Harbour Castle.
A hotel official told them one entire tower at the hotel was without
hot water, but that didn't deter the Isles from thinking someone was
taking last night's Game 7 far too seriously. Additionally, the Isles
were not thrilled they were detained and questioned for nearly one
hour while going through Canadian customs on landing in Toronto
The team, which flies everywhere on a chartered plane, generally gets
whisked through customs without incident.
