I think the better baseball comarison is Jimmy Piersal, who played
with the Red Sox a long time ago.
I think what bothers me is that he does not have to act
like this and unlike millions of others has help a telephone call
away and the money to live his life the way he chooses. He can stop
playing hockey any time he wants and the help will be there until he
is ready to retire or return.
He can clearly put the points up either way. He has had every media
person around here kiss his ass when he returned and all he had to do
was go about his game and he would have had more support than he knew
what to do with from fans on all sides. I do not want him on the
Islanders no matter how many points he gets.
These days I have no sympathy for him, and the fans are going to
roast him for it everywhere he plays and that will include Ranger
fans because they are sick of it too. You get a guy like Larry
Brooks, who thinks the value of Malhotra is Mike Modano and he says
kick him off the team immediately.
The only bad part about all this is how the media knew (and the
Rangers) and just ignored it all because he was scoring, until they
had no choice last year.
Bottom line he is going to have to ignore it all and play hockey
because if he does not he will not be playing much longer.
