Maybe I am misssing something because I do not watch the Oilers
games, and maybe I do not like hearing how the Isles were ripped off
in the Roman Hamrlik deal, because I thought Hamrlik played well.
Yes, Brewer was raved about for his play in the Dallas series that
the Oilers lost and a lot of what was written was based on his
playoffs because he played about twenty eight minutes a game.
No doubt he was better on a team that had some direction and that was
something the Islanders were not able to provide when he was here.
But when I look at his season he scored seven goals, and had fourteen
assist, and was a plus fifteen, which was the best for the Oilers
defense. Maybe it's the start of something great, but can we hold off
the Norris trophies for another year.
I think it may be time for a reality check up in Edmonton because he
was not bad as a rookie for the Islanders either. He played very
steady for half a season and looked like a keeper. He reported to the
99-00 Isles and got injured and looked very shaky and after a
terrible giveaway against the Rangers was sent down, where he got
injured again and never really recovered.
