Yashin's set to walk down Isle

Alexei Yashin is back in Ottawa, but he's not expected to stay long.
Sources say the finishing touches are being put on a 10-year, $90-
million (all terms US) deal with the New York Islanders and Yashin
could be introduced as an assistant captain next week.
While the former Senators captain will spend the next couple of days
in the Ottawa area with his girlfriend/actress Carol Alt, he's
preparing to move to New York, with his family expected to follow
An NHL executive told the Sun yesterday Islanders GM Mike Milbury and
Yashin's agent Mark Gandler have disagreements over small issues, but
it's not expected to kill the deal.
"He's going to be in camp," said the executive. "As far as I know the
basics of the deal have already been agreed on, but there are issues
like insurance and the way payments are made that have to be worked

He has to get this deal done and neither side can afford to have a

Getting Yashin under contract is important because he's one of the
first star players the Islanders have had since Milbury took over
five years ago.
Once he's signed, Yashin is going to be forced to change his number.
The Islanders have agreed to retire the jersey No. 19 that was worn
by Bryan Trottier.
Sources say that Yashin will likely wear No. 90 when camp opens next
